Uganda The Pearl Of Africa

Uganda is the country in the heart of Eastern Africa. Uganda is said to be the Pearl of Africa as it hosts a fantastic landscape with spectacular wildlife. The various tourist attractions sites revolve around Game Reserves, National Game Parks, traditional areas, and the vast green provided by its tropical forests. Besides that, numerous activities would interest any tourist, including boat riding, game safaris, and trekking.

There are various amazing tourist attraction sites in Uganda, which include:

Rwenzori National Park.

Rwenzori National Park is located almost along the equator in the Rwenzori Mountain range on Uganda, DRC Congo's border. From the Park, there is a scenic view of the Rwenzori Mountains. The eye-catching mountain is ranked the third highest point in Africa, standing at about 5190 m in height.

Due to the high altitude and the alpine region, the wildlife is uniquely inhabited with giant heathers, lobelias, and groundsels.

The Park is also an elephant and chimpanzee heaven with many recorded species of the same. Rwenzori National Park offers the most unaltered natural habitat in the continent with an extensive collection of wildlife only unique to the Albertine Rift.

The weather around Rwenzori National Park is mostly cold, with 70% of the Park being above 2500 Meters above Sea Level. Any time is good to pay the Park a visit.

The big tree-heathers and colorful mosses hug the mountainside to provide excellent photography backdrops and memorable scenes.

From Kampala, the Park is accessible through Fortportal and Mbarara. Also, daily flights from Entebbe to Kasese Airstrip operate.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located at an altitude of between 1200 – 2700 Meters above sea level, covering 32092 hectares. It is home to one of the most unique Ugandan species of both vegetation and animals.

The Park harbors a rich ecosystem of almost 400 plant species, 120 mammals, over 350 bird species, and 320 mountain gorillas.

Almost half of the world's critically endangered mountain gorilla population is hosted within the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

The Park boasts of breathtakingly beautiful sceneries of the diverse rainforest complemented by the mist slightly blanketing the hills making this an obvious photography attraction.

The various activities within the Park are walks, gorilla trekking, bike riding, among others.

Queen Elizabeth Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park, named after Queen Elizabeth visited Uganda in 1954, covers 1978 square kilometers at an altitude between 850 – 1350 Meters above sea level.

The Park is a mixture of Savannah grasslands bordered by lakes and forests. The Park hosts the Big Five except for the rhinos and is mostly known for its numbers of large mammals hosted.

It is very advisable to visit the Park during the dry months between January to March and June to August. During these months, the wildlife is close to the Park, mostly watering around water points. This makes it easy for game viewing and incredible experience of the Park.

The Park is also a birding paradise with over 600 recorded bird species. Chimpanzee trekking is one of the best activities offered by the Park.

The Source of the Nile

Throughout the ages, the River Nile has been a source of life for many civilizations. That's not all; the Nile draws from Lake Victoria, a large water body whose portion exists in Uganda.

The river cruises in Jinja's city, and it provides a magnificent environment for fishing, swimming boat riding, and white water rafting.

Mt Elgon National Park.

The towering volcanic giant is located on the border between Kenya and Uganda. It is a home of untamed wilderness in secluded splendor with a large landmass covering about 463 square miles.

The presence of rocks, vegetation, and ample terrain create room for hiking, nature walks, bike riding, and many more. So generally, Uganda indeed seeks to quench the urge of the adventurous soul; therefore, it should be one of the venues added to every map or every mind of a tourist.
